The benefit of this technology is security, speed and rapid scalability. It's not a new idea, Google applied similar concepts in order to make use of off-the-shelf hardware technology to create massive computing power that maifests itself in speed and reliability. The core database technology is a variant SQL however the transaction management and node interactivity has been built to step beyond the traditional limitatons.
